Today retired from the practice of notarial law, Serge Allard was a notary for 47 years. During his career, he served as a lecturer or professor in the undergraduate and graduate programs at Laval University, the University of Sherbrooke, the University of Quebec in Montreal, and the University of Montreal, as well as in the continuing education programs of the Quebec Bar and the Chamber of Notaries of Quebec. He taught civil law and condominium law for over 25 years, delivered conferences in the Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium, and France, and published more than fifty articles and draft deeds in professional and academic journals and collections.<\/p>\n

He created the phased condominium method, using the procedure of concurrent condominium declarations, published in the *R\u00e9pertoire de droit\/Nouvelle S\u00e9rie* of the Chamber of Notaries of Quebec in 1996. This method is now widely applied and was the subject of his 2014 publication, *Droit et pratique de la copropri\u00e9t\u00e9 par phases*.<\/p>\n
On October 28, 2011, the Chamber of Notaries of Quebec awarded him its Medal of Honor and the title of Notary Emeritus to recognize his outstanding career in teaching, research, and the practice of condominium law.<\/p>\n
