Serge Allard

Notary counsel

Notary Serge Allard has been active for 40 years as a specialist in the field of co-ownership law, a teacher and researcher.

For 25 years, he has been a professor or a lecturer in the undergraduate and graduate programs of several universities, as well as in the pre-admission training programs of the Chamber of notaries and of the Québec Bar.

He has published more than fifty articles and forms in academic and professional journals.

In 2014, at Wilson & Lafleur, he published the reference book “Droit et pratique de la copropriété par phase” (Law and practice of co-ownership by phases).

As a counsel or acting notary, he has contributed to the creation of several hundred co-ownerships, including several large scale projects such as: Le Faubourg Boisbriand, Les Résidences du Ritz-Carlton, La Tour des Canadiens, Le Solano, Le Vistal, Le Parc Angus, Le Square Angus, Le Unity, Le Royal St-Martin, Faubourg Quebec, Les Résidences du Boisé Notre-Dame – Altitude 3045, Le Bourg du Vieux, La Biscuiterie, Les Ateliers du Roulement à Billes Le Carré Notre-Dame, Le Square Quartier, Le Lux-Gouverneurs, Le Nouvel Europa, Les Jardins Versailles, Les Jardins des Vosges, Le Mosaïque-Southam, Le Onze de la Gare, Zuni, Copropriétés Montée Champagne, 125 Chabanel, Val des Ruisseaux, Le Carré de la Montagne, Pavillon Évolo, YUL, ORO, L’Héritage du Vieux-Port, Les Lofts Redpath, La Gare Viger, La Copropriété QB, Les Sommets sur le Fleuve, Arbora, Cohabitat Québec et Le Wilder-Espace Danse.

In 1996, he created the co-ownership by phase’s method by the means of concomitant declarations of co-ownership. His article published in the Répertoire de droit / Nouvelle Série de la Chambre des notaires du Québec (Chamber of notaries) is now of general application.

On October 28, 2011, the Chambre des Notaires du Québec (Québec Chamber of notaries) awarded its Medal of Honor to Me Allard to highlight his exceptional career as a teacher, a researcher and as a practitioner in co-ownership law.

Mr. Allard is now retired from active practice and limits his professional activities to specific interventions, as counsel, within the DE GRANDPRÉ JOLI-CŒUR law firm.
