Isabelle Poirier

Isabelle Poirier is a senior partner of our law firm. Over the years, she acquired an extensive experience in litigation matters before all Québec courts and provides advice on litigation issues. She is also the partner in charge of human ressources for our firm.

She began her practice in 1992 in the field of insurance law and specialized herself over the years in real estate (including construction), bankruptcy and insolvency, hypothecary, commercial, banking and condo law. Her field of practice also includes creation of sureties and mortgage remedies. Me Poirier regularly appears as guest speaker for conference given in the industry.

She has also been involved in many important disputes in matters related to manufacturer and/or product liability litigation.

Me Poirier is also active in her community and is a member of various non-profit organizations.

Marc Lanteigne

Marc Lanteigne obtained his law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1992. He was admitted to the Québec Bar in 1993.

Me Lanteigne joined the litigation and commercial law team of de Grandpré Jolicœur in 2004. He advises and represents individuals as well as businesses in contractual matters, co-ownership, bankruptcy law and insolvency, employment law and construction law. Me Lanteigne has been involved since it’s first edition, in the Real Estate and Condominium Exhibition in offering free legal advice in condominium law.

Hélène Benoit

Hélène Benoit is a partner and head of the firm’s commercial financing and real estate team. She was called to the Bar in 1999 after graduating from University of Montréal.

As part of her practice, Me Benoit represents various institutional and private lenders in the preparation and implementation of the security documents in commercial, multi-residential, industrial or construction transaction.

As legal counsel to many real estate investors, Me Benoit is frequently involved in major real estate acquisition transactions, including the negotiation of preliminary contracts, related due diligence and the drafting of agreements, contracts or partnership agreements.

Pierre-G. Champagne

Pierre-G. Champagne is the Managing partner at de Grandpré Joli–Cœur. He graduated from the University of Montréal in 1976 with “High Distinction”. Fellow of the Canada Arts Council, he obtained a Masters degree in Maritime Law from the University of London, England. He was admitted to the Québec Bar in 1978.

Me Champagne co-directs the litigation group of the firm. He is specialized in commercial, real estate and condo litigation. He excels in mortgage realization and disputes relating to the rights and duties of condominium corporations. He also practices in air law, maritime law, insurance law, public law and private international law. His commercial law practice includes the review and preparation of commercial leases and the purchase and sale of businesses.

Me. Champagne has appeared before all courts in Québec and was involved in the Supreme Court of Canada case:Amselem vs. Syndicat Northcrest, where he pleaded issues of Charter of Rights and Freedoms concerning the right to practice religion vs. the contractual obligations in a co-ownership

Marie-Cécile Bodéüs

Graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Montreal in 1996 and registered within the Quebec Bar in 1998, she held the position of General Manager of the Association of Syndicates of Co-Ownership of Quebec (ASCQ) from 1998 to 2001.

After a short period at the Ministry of Justice, she joined the co-ownership team at De Grandpré Jolicoeur’s law firm in 2004 and became a partner in 2009.

As a litigation lawyer, Me Bodéüs specializes in co-ownership law in all its aspects, acting moreover, within the framework of her practice as a mediator since 2016 and as an arbitrator since 2017.

In 2020, during the pandemic, she co-created the first virtual arbitration’s platform (link).

She is a member of the Institut de Médiation et d’Arbitrage du Québec (IMAQ) and the vice-president of sectorial table of co-ownership (link).

Me Bodéüs is also responsible of the establishment of the evenings called “Speed-Condo” and “Sablier” whose objectives are to promote the right of the co-ownership to all the actors of the filed, including the outside of the metropolitan area. She lectures numerous conferences and gives trainings in the field of co-ownership, such as the training for the directors of co-ownership.

She is a writer of numerous articles and she also speaks in the media to answer current issues in co-ownership (links).

She is one of the leading professionals in terms of chairing annual general meetings on the virtual platform created by De Grandpré Jolicoeur in conformity with the government directives to counter COVID-19.

 

Ludovic Le Draoullec

Ludovic Le Draoullec acts as a lawyer in the Litigation and Co-ownership team at the firm.

As counsel and litigator, Me Le Draoullec assists condo associations, promoters and co-owners for more than 10 years in several ways and on every aspects related to co-ownership and real estate law.

Me Le Draoullec regularly pleads before the courts of first instance and appeal of Quebec as well as before the administrative tribunals and arbitration tribunals, whether for hearings on the merits or for out-of-court settlement sessions.

Here is a description of the contentious matters that he is used to dealing with: procedures for the recovery of common charges, procedures for latent defects and construction defects, request for nullity of acts, request for injunction (for access to an apartment, for execution or dismantling of work, etc.), revocation of irrevocable mandate for abuse, etc.

In terms of advice, here are the services he is used to performing: legal opinion, preparation and revision of contracts, presiding over meetings, start-up of co-ownerships, assistance in the development of keys for the distribution of common charges, modification of the declaration of co-ownership, contestation of decisions taken by the board of directors or the assembly of co-owners

Me Le Draoullec has spoken in numerous conferences and various training sessions on divided co-ownership: the Speed-Condo and the ABC of the Administrator since 2012, the Sablier since 2014, the Condo-Journal since 2016, the Salons de la Copropriété since 2009 , etc.

Me Le Draoullec has also provided various training courses as a lecturer in training courses on the administration of condominiums and legal remedies in real estate since 2012, so that they duly fulfill their obligations according to law and the declaration of co-ownership. His involvement includes modifications to the declaration of co-ownership, recovering of condo fees, Court motions and injunctive proceedings. He also acts as president and/or secretary to co-owners and directors meetings. He is well versed in start-up procedures of co-ownerships and the preparation of Registers of the co-ownership, etc..

Ludovic Le Draoullec acts also as a teacher in the “Gestion de copropriété” training program proposed by McGill University and the ADMA , and he has given lectures for the “ABC de l’Administrateur ” program, proposed by the RGCQ in Montréal and Québec City, since 2012.

Clément Lucas

Me Clément Lucas is an associate lawyer at De Grandpré Jolicoeur L.L.P (DJC).

He represents and advises clients in various areas of real estate law, including law of divided and undivided co-ownership. He intervenes before the various judicial authorities as well as in arbitration proceedings, which are an important aspect of his practice in co-ownership.

Me Clément Lucas is also an arbitrator, notably in co-ownership and in the context of arbitration of the guarantee plan for new residential buildings (GAMM). He is also accredited by the Institut de médiation et d’arbitrage du Québec (IMAQ) and by the Ministère de la justice de Québec (MJQ).

Me Clément Lucas acts occasionally as counsel in the context of appeal proceedings or when an expertise is required in real estate law, especially in divided and undivided co-ownership law. He equally acts as an intern and mentor to his peers and leads internal training sessions in this regard. He also acts as an external mentor or presenter for the judiciary, the public, members of other professional orders, etc.

In this regard, he has provided training or made presentations to certain courts, the Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec, the Chambre d’assurance de dommages, the Quebec Bar Association and now the Canadian Bar Association. The training sessions have been and continue to be on various subjects, notably that of insurance in divided co-ownership, mediation and arbitration in co-ownership or the planning of major works in co-ownership.

He is the author and co-author of various publications and articles, including the monthly column of the Actualités juridiques en copropriété.

Francesca Lasorsa

Francesca Lasorsa has been a member of the firm’s Litigation and Co-ownership Law department since 2018.

She graduated with distinction from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. During her time at university, she participated in the Pierre-Basile-Mignault moot court competition and was involved in the national Pro-Bono student network.

Perfectly bilingual, very involved and hard-working, Me Lasorsa practices with passion in co-ownership law, civil litigation and real estate. She pleads with energy and conviction before all Quebec civil and administrative tribunals.

Xiang Xiao

Me Xiang Xiao practices in the civil and commercial litigation as well as the co-ownership law team in the firm.

During her studies, she notably participated at the Bureau d’assistance juridique internationale (BAJI) legal clinic and was involved in the National Network of Pro Bono Students of Canada. She also joined, as an intern, an internationally renowned law firm in Beijing, where she was able to contribute to technical cases relating to mergers, acquisitions, customs clearance and cross-border litigation.

As part of her practice, Me Xiao advises and represents individuals, companies and condominium associations in matters of civil and commercial litigation, real estate law as well as condominium law.

Me Xiao remains involved in the Young Bar of Montreal and the Young Chinese Professional Association by participating in legal and tax clinics. She is also pursuing graduate studies at HEC Montreal.

Annie Madigan

Annie Madigan is a member of the firm’s commercial financing and real estate team. She was called to the Bar in 2021 after graduating from the Faculty of Law of the Université de Sherbrooke.

As part of her practice, Me Madigan represents various institutional and private lenders in the preparation and implementation of the security documents in commercial, multi-residential, industrial or construction transactions.
